Nesting : Vacancy
After fleeing their old life, two siblings find themselves in an abandoned house, haunted by their memories, seeking a connection and desperate for a place to call home.
Nesting: Vacancy takes place a year and 7 months after the events of Season I, no need to have seen the first season, to enjoy Vacancy. The common thread that ties these seasons together in the house in which the show is set.
Nesting is an independently-funded, episodic theatre event, returning this fall with Season II. We had such an amazing response from the community when we produced Season I in March 2016 and now we’re back. This fully collaborative, original piece of theatre will be intimate, authentic, thrilling, and like nothing you’ve seen before! 4 Episodes. 4 Weekends. Binge-Watch Saturdays returning by popular demand. Coming to SE Portland this October, Friday the 13th!
Nesting: Vacancy will be presented at the extremely intimate Shoebox Theatre (2110 SE 10th Ave, Portland, OR 97214), opening Friday October 13th, 2017, and will run for 4 weekends. A unique aspect of Nesting is that the story takes place over 2 nights of theatre. We will be performing Episodes 1 & 2 for half of our showtimes and Episode 3 & 4 for the other half; catch the first and second episodes on the same night, then come back tomorrow (or the next week) for the thrilling conclusion. For those who love to binge-watch Netflix, they can get their live theatre fix on 3 Saturdays during the run that we call our “Binge-Watch Saturdays”. On these days, Episodes 1 & 2 will be presented in a matinee performance, and Episodes 3 & 4 in an evening performance. Sophia June from the Willamette Week wrote: “When the light, naturalistic improv gets a sudden punch of terror—blackouts, creaks, a knife—the horror-film flat notes feel surprising in a theater and left me grabbing my roommate or covering my eyes with sweaty palms.”
